Dance Instructor/ Choreographer
Kimberley Kaminski Dance Instructor/Choreographer/Producer As a child I loved the stage. I had many opportunities to perform in musical theatre. During high school I enjoyed participating in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and in college I was privileged to sing and dance with casts in The Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Once on this Island, Godspell and Guys and Dolls. Miss Adelaide, the comedic lead in Guys and Dolls was my favorite role. After attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, I joined a theatre company that produced original redemptive stories. I found my passion in choreographing— telling stories through movement. I performed in Scrooge’s A Christmas Carol, Celestial City based on John Bunyan’s Pilgrims Progress, The Story of Ruth and Song in the Wind (based on the true stories between the Algonquin Indians (Praying Indians of Natick) and the Pilgrims in New England. We performed the story of Ruth in Israel which was incredible to tell the story on the soil of where it originally took place. I trained in ballet, modern, and jazz dance in Kansas City and enjoyed opportunities to perform in major cities including Times Square. I continued to teach and perform in Boston and eventually spearheaded a dance program in Graskop, South Africa, where the universal language of dance was used to draw together an apartheid fall- out community—-although we came from different places and spoke different languages—we came together to dance the washing of one another’s feet in humility and trust. Upon returning to the states, I worked for Brevard Cultural Art Alliance as a dance instructor who introduced meaningful movement to elementary students in after school programs though out the county. I also directed Gateway Dance Academy in Melbourne, Florida, for 7 years. Over that time, the dance studio grew from 8 to 80 dancers. Our unique thumbprint was training up dancers of all ages to present redemptive dance theatre to their community. We drew thousands at no charge in order to share with them stories like CATS, Narnia, Moses and Esther in order to encourage them with messages that revive the spirit and soul. One of my favorite choreography experiences was at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut, doing summer stock theatre and choreographing West Side Story. Now I live in Johnson Creek with my family of 8 plus two dogs. I am looking forward to joining a team of creative artists at Rock Lake Activity Center to continue telling stories through dance.
